New Trof: The Deaf Institute

Head down to the old Adult Deaf and Dumb Institute on Grosvenor Street and marvel at what a fantastic place it has become now Trof has moved in and done a bit of decorating.

With 3 floors -
an exclusive basement bar,
a large ground floor cafe by day serving all the old favourites and bar by night with the best DJs in town, sun/smoking terraces,
PLUS a dedicated music hall on the 1st floor.
There will be live bands, exclusive gigs, DJs, acts of all descriptions and all manner of stuff every night.

Phew, exciting stuff.....

Following a meeting on Monday 24th February with Noel Traynor, Chief Executive Officer of the Manchester Deaf Centre and other members of his team, we would like to confirm that our new bar will not be called Deaf & Dumb. We had used Deaf and Dumb as an abbreviation of this historic buildings title, which is engraved on the facade of the building, and were not intending to cause offence with the use of these words. We apologise to those we have offended. Some printed literature has gone out bearing the words Deaf and Dumb, and that was also the name of the myspace, and facebook internet sites. The printed literature has been withdrawn where possible, and the names of the myspace & facebook sites have been changed.
Once again we would like to extend our apologies for any offence caused.
